She has earned two master’s degrees, the first from National Louis University in Curriculum and Instruction and the second from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership.At GEMS world Academy Chicago, all students have a choice of world language starting in preschool. Knapik has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Miami University. “I am honored to have been given an opportunity to join the West Northfield School District 31 community, and I am excited to continue the work of fulfilling our mission of empowering every student,” said Mrs. She also concurrently served as the K-8 math director in Burr Ridge. ![]() ![]() She was employed for two years as an Assistant Principal at Pleasantdale Middle School in Burr Ridge. Knapik began her career as a middle school math teacher in Barrington. “She is passionate about providing all students with a quality, whole child education she is eager to create a collaborative environment for all teachers and is ready to jump into work with our teams as we prepare for the fall.” She brings a wealth of leadership, passion, and experience from her years in education and previous positions,” said Superintendent Dr. She has presented at numerous education and professional conferences during her career, as well as being an Apple Learning Coach, a Google Certified Educator and a National Geographic Certified Educator. ![]() Knapik is an adjunct professor at Northwestern University, developing and teaching a course this summer on “Designing for Inquiry-Based Learning and Assessment.” She has also co-authored a book, “Literacy lessons for a digital world: Using blogs, wikis, podcasts, and more to meet the demands of the Common Core” and wrote a section spotlighting math in a separate book, “This is disciplinary literacy”. Knapik most recently served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at GEMS World Academy Chicago. West Northfield School District 31 welcomes Meg Knapik to the community as the new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, effective July 18. ![]()
